Planning Guidelines
The goal of the PTI Airport Master Plan Update is to provide a framework to guide future airport development and meet the aviation needs of the community in a financially feasible, environmentally sound and cost-effective manner. The Master Plan Update is a road map for the Airport Authority to follow as it makes decisions about the future of the airport.
The Airport Master Plan Update ensures that the Piedmont Triad International Airport can accommodate the passenger, air cargo, aircraft maintenance, ground transportation, economic development and other aviation-related demands that must be met over the next 20 years to best serve the Piedmont Triad. This plan also considers land use planning beyond 20 years.
It is important to remember, however, that the Airport Master Plan Update is just that, a plan. It will only be implemented as warranted by actual demand. The recommendations contained in an Airport Master Plan Update are contingent upon demonstrated need, further environmental study and financial feasibility.
